I liked bill/sookie in the 1st book and also thought they were cute. But, Eric and Sookie are smoking hot in the books!! Eric is a bigger player in Book 2 as he will be in season 2. AS is a series regular.
As for the same hair color (not that it matters-lol), but Sookie comments on this in the books. She seems to like it.

YOU must read the books. eric is the MAN…..1000%. you will see if you read the books. i didn’t really notice AS in the show, but i read the books after & went back to watch EVERYTHING alex was in. he is #1 hottie & the perfect ERIC!!! yummm
